Gesika Gets Out Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Recently, my cousin (hello Ohio barbie?!) graduated from Perrysburg High School so we decided to make night of it and stay in Toledo, Ohio. I had absolutely no idea where to stay, but what I did know was that I wasn’t paying a fortune. Since it’s graduation, wedding, music festival and basically everything season hotels are at a premium. I was super excited when I found this awesome deal for Hilton members for only $119/night plus fees and taxes when I paid in advance, for a total of $149.
When arriving to the area I began to second guess myself. Where was I? Was Toledo THAT bad? Has the world really forgotten this city? Remnants of the rust belt and a world before were scattered all around and I wondered where I booked myself and my kiddos. There was not only double train tracks (with a train stalled on the tracks) but a legit HUGE factory burning who knows what with only 10 minutes left on my GPS. I was nervous to say the least.
I put on a brave face as I navigated around the stalled train trying to make its way into the factory. Houses built in the 1950s and 1960s dotted the area showing their age and the grandeur they once had. A life and community that has long left for better pastures, better pay.
Within a few minutes we officially crossed into Oregon, Ohio which didn’t show much difference, but there was heart, there was passion. This was a community that refused to be forgotten. I felt confident in my choice. The GPS showed less than 2 minutes until arrival but I didn’t see a hotel anywhere in sight.
Quickly turning left into a Sonic (yes the fastfood place) I noticed the hotel neatly, yet oddly placed behind, but not easily seen from the main road. Lacking any type of landscaping, I depended on the Hilton brand for a clean stay, despite my excellent deal.
The Room
I booked a simple hotel room with double queen beds which included a mini fridge and microwave. My kids are still young enough to share a bed and if they refuse, I will gobble up cuddles while I still can.
The room was impeccably clean and met all of our kids expectations. The kids quickly claimed their bed as my daughter decided immediately she was sleeping with me. Mommy cuddles for the win!

Hot Breakfast
One of my very favorite things about the Hilton chains is the hot breakfast. With food cost spiking, adding in a free hot meal is always a bonus, especially a good meal. Full bellies make for a productive day.
The Fun Bonus Items
When booking I specifically looked for a hotel with a pool. Hello free fun! The “mini store” was a life saver when we arrived back late and the kids picked out Easy Mac to go with the snacks I brought from home which we could easily prepare in our room. And a glass of wine for me too.
Conclusion
Never judge a book by its cover. Despite being in a less desirable location, this was a perfect hotel for our family. We were 10 minutes from Perrysburg and 5 minutes from downtown Toledo. Which worked out perfect because we headed to the Toledo Museum of Art next! Of course I have review for that too! Stay tuned!
